Deelite Christmas

It is during this time of the year, the week of Christmas to be exact where I am able to really to step back and take some time to reflect everything that has happened during the year.
This is one of my favourite times at Deelite because I get to review all the photos we have on file of all the cakes, cookies and cupcakes we've done, look at all the classes we've held and start prepping for new classes, and also revamp the store bit by bit.
We've just done some cool re merchandising at the store already and have an entire new Baby Shower department. I know, hard to believe as our store is already so packed. But with a lil moving here and there, some extra Buttercream for energy, we were able to make our existing space bigger and better:) You gotta see it to believe it.
I thought I'd also take this time to highlight some of our special moments at Deelite with you.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!!!!!

Here is a cake I did for my friend Annie. She is a super Coffee fan. She recently found out that she was pregnant with their second child so she couldn't enjoy her daily cup of joe. Her husband decided to get her a Coffee Mug cake for her big 30. And yes, the # 3 is suppose to be sinking into the "HOT" coffee:)

We were asked to do a spectacular cake for the 10th anniversary of Staccato. Here is a photo that was sent to us from their PR department. They also shared with us that the cake was one of the most spectacular moments of the entire Anniversary.

Here is a photo of one of our students Debbie. You have probably seen her in a lot of our class photos or even in your class. That's because Debbie is our super dooper Prego student. She was on a mission to do all the classes before her due date. And that she did, Course 1,2,3, Fondant & Gumpaste, Cupcakes wkshop...you name it, she did it. She finished her last class Christmas Cookie Bouquet and about 2 weeks later, she gave birth to a sweet lil girl Ariel.
Congratulations Debbie:)

If you were ever wondering who our photogropher was, well....its you're truly ME:) I'm also the food stylist and studio set up person etc.... One man band basically. Every so often, I'm able to grab a "lighting person" from the decorating studio to adjust the light bulb for me. But other than that, its me myself and I.
Here I am trying to shoot an action shot for the launch of our Mint Baby cupcake with one hand sprinkling and one hand snapping. As you can see, it didn't quite work out:)
My New Year's resolution is to get to know my camera better. My camera has got so much potential with all kinds of options. But all I know is one mode.
Hope you've enjoyed this year of fun at Deelite. In fact, our Blog is officially 1 years old now. Its been such a joy sharing all our goodies with you.
Until Next year:)
May All your days be filled with Deelite!!!

Holiday Buzz

It has been buzzing here in Deelite. I"ve probably done a HUGE blogging no no by not updating you on a daily basis. I promise this one will make up for the many days I"ve been missing.
Before I share with you about our BIG surprise, allow me to share with you some of the things we've been doing. We've been busy sending gifts all over Hong Kong, Cookie Bouquets,Celebration Cakes & of course our Holiday Cupcakes. Here's a sneak peak. I managed to still snap a few shots of us in action in the middle of all the holiday buzz.
Here we are Icing all sorts of Cookies. And as you can see, Christmas cookies were not the only ones in demand.

I must say, our Holiday Cookie Bouquet is the most popular gift for this season. We made them is all sizes. Bouquets with 9-20cookies in a bouquet.
Here is a snap of a few of our 20 pcs Christmas Cookie Bouquet.

Tis the season not only for cookies, but also for Cupcake Towers. Here's a gorgeous rose themed cake we did for a anniversary at the Grand Hyatt.

And then here's the Grand Surprise. In the middle of all the Holiday Buzz I got 2 separate calls on the same day from Wedding De Luxe maganize and TVB Dolce Vita. I was so excited!!!!!:) Wedding De Luxe wanted to feature our cakes and store for next years issue & Dolce Vita wanted to feature us as well for an episode as well. HELLO, I got two wonderful Christmas surprises at the same time. The catch with all this excitement was that we only had 2 Full days to prepare for it.

If you can imagine this, the best way I can describe the past 2 days is like the show project runway minus Heidi Klum. You know the part where all the designers are frantically trying to get their designs ready on time for the run way. Time is so limited, their sewing the dress onto the models, adjusting, changing things etc trying to make everything look perfect on time. That was me and my team this past Monday & Tuesday. And is was CRAZY fun. Of course I'm not gonna let all the surprises out and show you all the cakes we decorated. But I will tell you when the magazine and show airs next year:) I won't leave you hanging too much. The girls managed to snap of few shots of me in action.

Here I am with the team of Wedding De Luxe Magazine. Maria and Tony were so much fun to be with.

The following day we met up with the team from TVB to shoot for Dolce Vita.
Here they are in action shooting one of our creations. On the right is one of the host's getting into some decorating.
See I told you it was worth it:) Hope you enjoyed this eventful treat. I'll definitely keep y'all posted when i find out when the magazine and show will be out. Ho Ho Ho....!

Strummin to the 40's

We decorated this super dooper #40 cake topped with the birthday boy strumming his Birthday tunes. As requested, Green, white and black were the theme colors of the birthday, so we hand sculpted the birthday boy with his green & white stripped shirt and his signature shades.

If you're wondering what song he's strumming, its his personalized birthday song.

Why don't you join in and sing a long:)

"Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me I'm cool as a caaaaaaat, happy birthday to me:)"

Star Spangle Deelite!

Since our write up about our M1NT cupcake tower, our star spangle themed cakes and cupcake towers have been a huge hit. So I thought I'd share some other designs we have done with the same star spangle pizzaz.

Here is a Ratatouille topper cake we did for a 60th birthday party. The champagne and Ratatouille were all hand sculpted with fondant. The cake was accompanied with lil diva cupcakes in Vanilla & Choco cupcakes with alternating Buttercream.

For a true Aussie fan, we topped this cake with a variety of beverages and of coarse a true Aussie Fosters beer. We matched our cake with the same colors as the Australian flag.
